Macro Photography: First Love with Photography

My first love in photography was Macro Photography. The insects I found in the backyard and from the WPA Rock Garden Sacramento were my first models and teachers. Learning photography on manual film camera was difficult due to the lack of instant gratification. My exposures and compositions had to be on-point due to the cost of 35 mm transparency film and E6 development. With the recent evolution and advancement of digital photography, I don't miss scanning my slides and using a loupe to check for sharpness on the light box.
